Purchase prints of works-in-progress

November 30, 2007  :  On Art and Artists

Making art is a long and involved process, even in photography. Each of my photographs represents days or weeks of careful work, coaxing the image I have in my mind out of the raw data provided nature. My Work-in-progress Prints give you the chance to peek into this creative process, while also helping support the creation of new art.

When I have created a photograph I am pleased with, but feel it still needs more work to really achieve its full potential, I post it on my blog in Works in Progress. The photograph may only need some small final touches, or it may need a complete overhaul — it all depends on the photograph. But while I am working on these photographs, I decided to make them available as fine art prints at a discounted price.

Why? Well, I feel it gives my blog readers a unique chance to buy a very limited edition of my work for a very low price. It also gives you a glimpse into how I work and think about my photographs. And it helps me as well — I think of my collectors as my beta testers: a small team of people who give me insight into what is working and what is not.

5×7 print of a work-in-progess for $35

This is a $30 discount from my usual price of $65 for a 5×7 print. You’ll receive a fine print of the photograph as it currently exists; at whatever stage of editing it is at when your order comes in. Your print will be the same quality as all of my fine prints, made with pigment inks on cotton rag archival paper, and delivered in a protective acetate envelope.

Upgrade to the Final Print: I’ll let you know when I finish the photograph, and you’ll have the opportunity to ‘upgrade’ to the final print for only $30. That’s giving you two prints for the price of one.

Buy 4 get 1 free: If you buy four work-in-progress prints over the course of a year (either different prints, or multiples copies), you’ll get your next work-in-progress print free, or a free upgrade.

Have any questions? Just let me know.
